Gary was a loving father to three daughters and three step-children, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many grand-dogs. He grew up in Curtis, Nebraska on the family farm with his parents and siblings.

He was an active member of his church and community, and loved Huskers football, gardening, and watching birds in the feeder by his window. He was a talented woodworker, and you can find his detailed artwork in the homes of many of his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Helen Debus (Greg), Shelly Pierce (Harvey), and Sonia Black (Richard), his sister Helen Reed, brother Al Jorgensen (Jean), grandkids Kira Debus, Sara Haake (Phil), Alyssa Debus, Kayla Wills, Justin McCorkle (Katrina), Chelsey Whyrick, Josh Whyrick (Samantha), Aaron Pierce, and great-grandkids Brailyn, Teegan, Bentley, Leigha, Grayson, Jayce, Joslynn, Jayden, CaLee, NataLee, LiLee, Evelyn, MarLee, Brock, Knox Gary Lee, Gabriella, and Eloise, along with a nephew, three nieces, and numerous cousins.
