On November 25, 2024, Gary Glen Keahey of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away from this life at the age of 58. Born in Groom, Texas, on March 1, 1966, Gary was the son of Robert Lee Keahey and Lena Joyce (Fuller) Nabors. His father Robert preceded him in death in August of 2009.
He leaves his mother, Joyce Nabors, to cherish his memory, along with his wife, Cheryl Austin-Keahey, and his children – Patrick Keahey, Ciana Keahey, Andrew Trueblood, and Sarah Trueblood; sisters Sherri Foster, and Terri Nizza; as well as five beloved grandchildren, Hagen, Harper, Savannah, Lori, and Lexi, and many other loving family and friends.
Gary was a hard worker his entire life. As the founding owner and operator of Pat's Towing since 1996, Gary didn't take a lot of time off work, but he always ensured he made time to take his children camping in his camper whenever there was an opportunity. In his younger years, he was a Boy Scout. Through the Scouts, he learned the importance of honor, strength in the face of adversity, and honed many survival skills, lessons that stayed with him throughout his life.
Later in life, Gary survived three separate tornadoes and earned several awards and accolades from local police and fire departments for his assistance and the many generous donations he brought in to help other victims. Gary was even featured on a news story with famed local weatherman, David Payne. He became an advocate for other tornado victims and his generosity and kindness positively impacted numerous lives in his community.
Though there were so many things in life that made Gary happy, nothing brought him more pride or joy than his family. He particularly cherished quality time with his children and grandchildren. As we say goodbye to a true hero, let us remember him for his unwavering strength, his generous heart, and for all the good he was able to accomplish during his 58 years on this earth. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live forever in our hearts.
