Gary Thomas Kidd born February 10, 1947 to the late Clinton and Lela Kidd, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
He left behind his wife of 58 years, Lola Kay (Jones) Kidd; children, Joy Carol Foster (and Jeff), Kimberly Ann Cathey (and Chad), Mark Thomas Kidd (and Kim), and Melodie Dawn Kidd; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Gary being one of 9 children, he also leaves behinds brothers and sisters, Ronnie Kidd, Janice Sue West, Brenda Wilson (and Ernie), and Penny Dixon Adkins (and Ted).
Preceding him in death are his parents; a daughter, Chanda Kay Atkins; brothers, Roger Wayne Kidd and Mike Kidd; and sisters, Ann Kidd and Kimberly Watters.
Gary became a child of God in 1975 and walked with the Lord from then on. Now he has gone home to be with his Lord. Gary attended Jimmy Swaggart Bible college for two years and continued on to get his degree from Asbury College in Communications. Most of his working life was spent in security at different places.
After retiring, Gary and his wife Kay returned back to McCreary County where he was reunited with an old friend and evangelist, Landon Sexton. Gary felt called to help Landon in his revivals, so for 9 years they traveled to different states and places, spreading the Lord's word. They were a team; Landon preached, and Gary was the driver and right-hand man.
Gary attended South Pine Knot Church of God for the last four years. He left behind many family and friends. And although we cannot bring him back, thankfully we can go to where he is, by choosing Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 6:30 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Landon Sexton and Bro. Ryan Wells officiating. Burial to follow in the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday after 5:00 pm until service time.
