Gary Frank Asa Ladd, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on July 23, 1941, in Brewerton, New York, to Carlton Ira Ladd and Ruth Ida (Forester) Ladd, Gary's life was one of dedication, craftsmanship, and joy.
Gary graduated from high school and pursued his passion for Greek studies at Emmanuel Baptist College in Atlanta, Georgia. It was there he met the love of his life, Barbara, and they married on December 14, 1969. Their union was marked by love, mutual respect, and unwavering support.
Gary proudly served six years of active duty in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. Following his military service, he channeled his skills and creativity into becoming a self-employed leather craftsman. In the 1970s, he owned a shoe store in Kentucky, where his craftsmanship and dedication to quality earned him a loyal clientele.
Gary loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart and as a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Gates, Oregon, Gary found a supportive and faith-filled community that he cherished deeply. His hobbies included spending precious moments with his family, meticulously working on his leather creations, and attending trade shows to showcase his beloved belts, wallets, purses, and other masterpieces. Known for his friendliness, outgoing nature, and great sense of humor, Gary brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. In his younger years, he found solace and excitement in fishing.
Gary's love for his family was boundless. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, and their children: Erich Ladd, Christy Ladd, and Lora Ladd. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Elizabeth Ladd, Julianna Ladd, Jacob Ladd, and Isaac Ladd. Gary is also survived by his sister, Helen, and his brother, "Butch" Morris Jr. as well as many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Elaine and Ronnie.
