Gary Lecount Obituary

GARY JAMES LECOUNT
October 18, 1949 ˜ September 17, 2025

Gary James LeCount, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington surrounded by family and friends. Gary was born on October 18, 1949, in Bertha Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Jim and Marcy LeCount.
As a young man, Gary answered the call to serve his country, becoming an Army helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War, logging 864 combat hours. In the face of extraordinary danger, he flew with steadfast bravery and earned the Bronze Star for his heroism and dedication. Though he rarely spoke about his service, those who knew him understood the weight he carried, and the honor with which he carried it.
After the war, Gary built a life rooted in quiet resilience. He eventually settled in Vancouver, Washington, where he met life with a calm spirit, a warm heart, and a dry, steady sense of humor.
Gary is survived by his two sons, Tyler and Clinton, and his daughter-in-law, Kelly. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kyle, married to Rebecca, and Cole, both of whom brought him great joy and pride. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl (Dennis) and his brothers Ron (Debbie), Chuck (Brenda), Bill and Russ (Susie) with whom he shared a lifetime of strong bonds, memories, and unwavering support. He is also survived by his best friend Jo Parrent.
Gary loved his family above all else. He had a deep appreciation for the simple, beautiful things in life: a good book, sitting around a campfire, a well-timed joke, gardening with his best friend or a lively brunch surrounded by loved ones. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was with meaning and left a profound impact on those around him. Gary will be greatly missed!

The past 40+ years my wife and I have donated our Seaside, Oregon Condo approximately 250 times to various charity groups. Even though most guests left the place reasonably clean: Gary is the only one to leave us a well needed gift, a reading lamp. The lamp is so beautiful it now sits in our home's front room. He was an outstanding individual and a role model to us all. M & T Rees
