It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Stoner II on November 20, 2024, at the age of 44. Born on May 20, 1980, Gary brought joy, laughter, and lively conversation into the lives of all who knew him.

?

Gary faced life with remarkable resilience, living with kidney disease and receiving a life-saving kidney transplant in July 2006. This journey deepened his appreciation for life and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

?

A proud alumnus of Missouri State University, Gary earned both a bachelor's degree in 2007 and a master's degree in 2009, both in social work. His career was a testament to his dedication to helping others, as he worked in behavioral health clinics, the state prison, and recovery centers, among other places. His work reflected his compassion, determination, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

?

On February 9, 2013, Gary married the love of his life, Elisa. Their marriage was filled with love, humor, and a deep appreciation for one another, creating cherished memories that will last forever.

?

He is survived by his mother, his siblings, nieces, nephews, beloved dog, and countless friends who cherished his unique spirit.

?

Gary had a zest for life and a sense of humor that was unmatched. He loved everything about Christmas, often playing Christmas music year-round and filling every season with festive cheer. He had a knack for trying strange foods, like haggis, just to see how others would react. His playful mischief extended to tricking his mom into eating unusual foods such as chocolate-covered crickets, dog food, or jellybeans with terrible flavors-she was the only one who would tolerate these antics.

?

A fan of The Bell Life on YouTube, Gary never missed an opportunity to introduce family members to its hilarity, making sure every gathering included at least one viewing session.

?

Gary will be remembered for his sharp wit, love of debate, and his mischievous streak as a masterful pot-stirrer who enjoyed sparking conversations and challenging perspectives. He had a talent for keeping people on their toes, always leaving them smiling and thinking.

?

A Celebration of Gary's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Missouri Humane Society, 616 Big Bear Blvd., Columbia, MO 65252, 573.443.7387.

?

Gary's lively spirit, resilience, and dedication to improving the lives of others will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in our hearts and in the countless stories we share.

Arrangements for Mr. Stoner are under the direction of TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR, 611 E. Capitol Ave. Jefferson City, Missouri 65101. (573) 636-2424.
