Gary D. Liskey, age 70, of Wolf Creek, died March 26, 2025 at his home.

"Gary Liskey's life was a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Born to John "Jack" and Ann Liskey in Cleveland and raised in Bay Village, Ohio, Gary's early years laid the foundation for his outstanding journey.

As a young man, Gary's adventurous spirit led him to the open waters of the Great Lakes, where he served as a Merchant Marine. This formative experience instilled in him a love for outdoor work and the thrill of discovery, foreshadowing the diverse paths he would pursue in the years to come.

At the age of 20, Gary made the bold decision to leave his Midwestern roots behind and venture west to Sunny Valley, Oregon. In this new and rugged landscape, he immersed himself in the world of gold panning and logging, learning to adapt to the challenges and rewards of the Pacific Northwest. It was during this time that he met the woman who would become his lifelong partner, Kerri, further shaping the course of his life.

Gary's professional journey showcased his love of both people and the outdoors, backed up by his exceptional loyalty and work ethic. In the 1980s, Gary and Kerri took on the mantle of first responders for Valley Fire in Merlin, demonstrating their commitment to public service and their desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He later worked as a logger, a wildland firefighter, and a landscaper, honing his skills in the forests and communities he loved. It was not long after that Gary established his own business, North Valley Landscape Maintenance.

As his family grew, with the arrival of his children Jessica, David, and Sage, Gary balanced his professional responsibilities with his role as a husband and father. Whether it be playing baseball out in the field, teaching them how to fish, or hiking together through the forests they loved, Gary maintained a lively and strong relationship with his children.

Throughout his life, Gary's passions remained firmly rooted in the great outdoors. He found joy in fishing, barbecuing, and spending time with his loved ones, cherishing the moments that connected him to the natural world and the people he held dear. His relationship with his family was a source of immense pride and happiness.

As Gary's life drew to a close, he left behind a remarkable legacy, one that was shaped by his unwavering work ethic, his adventurous spirit, and his deep commitment to his family and community. His siblings, Alan, Dale, and Diane, as well as his wife Kerri, his children Jessica, David, and Sage, his granddaughter Zoe, and all of his dear family and friends carry the indelible mark of his influence, a testament to the profound impact a life well-lived can have."
