Gary Leland Mace

Gary Leland Mace 78, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at a local health care facility. He was born January 23, 1945 in St. Joseph, son of Lorene and Homer L. Mace. He attended Benton High School. Gary worked many years as a Machinist. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed going to the races, riding his motorcycles, and listening to bluegrass and Willie Nelson. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Trenda Mace in 2009, brothers, Rolland Mace, Homer E. Mace, Dennis "Eddie" Mace, infant sister, Joy Elaine Mace, and great-grandson, Simon Turner. Survivors include daughters, Belinda (Randy) Gann of St Joseph, Pamela (Mike) Swift of Mt. Washington, KY, Sherri Spaeth of Platte City, MO and Bailey (Christian) Turner, grandchildren, Bryson, Josh, Tyler, Lexi Turner, Brandon, and Zachary Swift, Nicholas Mace, Courtney Spaeth-Eddy and Ryder and Gracelyn Turner, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mace has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
