Gary Magee, Sr., entered eternal rest at his son’s residence on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 87. He was a native of Tylertown, MS and a resident of Avondale, LA. Gary was educated in Walthall County School System, and he was a retired employee forklift operator with Stone Container. Beloved husband of the late Josephine New Magee. Loving father of Joan Sinegal, Michael, Sylvia, Gary, and Tressie Taylor, Angela M. (Timmie) Crossgrow, Sr., Kerry (Shawanda), Gary, Jr. (Adrianne) and Marcus L. Magee, and the late Curtis Thompson and Lorraine Magee. Great grandfather of the late Rayne Jackson and Kpacino Keon Sinegal. Son of the late I.H. Hammond and Rosa Childs Magee. Stepson of the late Martina Hammond. Adopted son of the late Jessie and Christine Magee. Brother of John T. Magee, Wilton (Helen) Hammond, Mary (Garland) Magee, Wilmer (Dorothy) Badon, Elder W.J. (Willie Jean) Magee, Patricia M. Bickham, Dr. Beverly M. Commodore, and the late Allie Mae Garner, Jimmie L. Williams, Betty Sue McGowan, Martha Alberta Evans, Catherine Foxworth, S.L. James, Gilbert Magee, Sellestine, Marcellies, Isiah Jr., Claude, Oliver, Alton, Delash Hammond, and R.B. Badon. Brother-in-law of Catherine Hammond, Gloria (Matthew) Hawkins, Hazel Tyler, Hattie Tyler, Bobby Jean New, John L. Gaines, and Ona New, also survived by 28 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of United Fellowship F.G.B.C., Greater St. Stephen F.G.B.C. The Sixth B.C., and Life Center Cathedral; employees of the Louisiana Tumor Registry, Sam’s Club store #8221, Cox Cable, Ochsner Home Health, and Canon Hospice are invited to attend funeral services at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA Friday, January 28, 2022, at 10:00 am. Elder W.J. Magee, of Greater East Lampton officiating. Visitation will 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
