My cousin taught me to appreciate music and played the first Elton John Album to his sister and me. He worked to help aides patients in the 1980's along with influential people, and health clinic patients his entire career. He had a brain for science and was also talented artistically. I send my sympathy to all who knew him and are grieving his loss in their own private ways. He made an impact on many lives that continue after his death.

In loving memory of one of kindest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the first day I met him he was my inspiration to do so many things that I desired to do . He taught me to enjoy life to fullest and to never put off what I could do today until tomorrow. Doc was a kind soul who no matter what the situation was he would never raise his voice nor change his demeanor. I enjoyed all of our long talks until the end. Take your place amongst the angels. You will truly be missed. We will love you and miss you always.

Gary and I lived next door to each other in River Edge, NJ, when my parents moved there in 1960 (or was it 1961). He was my closest childhood friend, and we were in classes together for years in Elementary, Sunday, and Hebrew school. He was truly brilliant, and a big influence on me at an early age. He will be missed.

During the three longest years of my life, Dr. Malakoff was a stabilizing presence for me. I never had a single interaction with him (and there were countless) that I did not leave better just from being around him. He was easily one of the most relatable men I have ever known. In spite of his many accomplishments, he was never condescending or patronizing. He welcomed input from every resident, intern, and med student, giving each one his attention and subsequent encouragement. His approach to patient care demonstrated to us how to provide compassionate care with authenticity and patience. He was able to make hospital rounds enjoyable (if you can believe it). But more than everything I learned from him clinically, he was a dear friend, a confidant, a mentor, and an ally. I am eternally grateful for the Lord putting Dr. Malakoff in my life, and I know that I am not alone in this sentiment. My heart grieves for his family, and I hope that there is comfort for Ian, Kate, and his grandchild in knowing that during his time here he made a titanic impact in the lives of those he taught. He will always have a very special place in my heart. Psalm 23:4

Gary was such a sweet, precious and kind hearted man. His demeanor was sensitive and attentive as he listened and received guidance. He worked hard, yet his family made him most proud. I won´t forget the look on his face when he shared he would be a grandpa. Gary, I will miss you. There´s a hole in the world now with you not in it.

In first grade at Hollie M. Davis School in River Edge, my first boyfriend, Gary, and I celebrated our "wedding." Later, we rode in his Triumph Spitfire to Tufts and followed each other to Washington, DC. Gary will always hold a special place as one of my dearest lifelong friends. His smile. His laugh. His brightness.
