Gary Edward Moore

Gary Edward Moore, 76, of Little River, SC, died Sunday, March 16, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Gary was born May 14, 1948, in Spindale, NC, to Kenneth and Ruth Morrow Moore. He grew up in Charlotte, where he graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and was a member of the State Championship track team in the 4x440-yard relay. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1972.
A longtime resident of Blowing Rock, NC, he spent most of his career as a general contractor, building homes in the High Country of North Carolina. Seeking warmer weather, he moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2006, where he enjoyed fishing and listening to live music. He was an avid fan of college basketball and football and a devoted guardian of his Shih Tzu, Mojo.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Emily Moore of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kellen Short (and fiance, Allyn Wilson) of Longmont, CO. He also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Marty and Cheri Moore of Concord, NC; sister-in-law Jo Moore of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one niece and one nephew; and his closest friend, Debbie Sain Bissette of Sunset Beach, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Fox, and brother, Randy Moore.
Gary requested no formal services, and his ashes will be scattered at a later date.
Burroughs Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Murrells Inlet is assisting the family with arrangements.
