Gary Ray O'Neal, 73, of Norris City, passed away on February 3, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 29, 1952, in Herald, Illinois, the son of James Robert and Venita (Millikan) O'Neal. Gary married Mary Beth Hall on June 28, 1996, and she survives. He was the owner and operator of Strata Oil Corp. until retirement and served Heralds Prairie as the road commissioner for many years. Gary was a member of The Roads Church in Norris City. He served on the NCOE school board from 1989-2001, where he was an integral part of the planning of the new NCOE K-8 school building, and was an officer in IOGA. He loved fishing and golfing with his friends and spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary O'Neal of Norris City, IL, Gary is survived by his children, Darin Ray O'Neal of Port Charlotte, FL, Farrah (Curtiss) Boyd of Norris City, IL, Sarah (Blake) Drone of Norris City, IL. and Courtney (Tim) Wood of Shawneetown, IL; grandchildren, Colin O'Neal, Katelyn O'Neal, Madison (Nevan) Leu, Liam Drone, Emma Drone, James Wood, and Jude Wood; siblings, Harold (Janet) O'Neal of Norris City, IL. and Paula (Jerry) Healy of Norris City, IL.; and a sister-in-law, Vickie Garrett of Norris City, IL. and a brother-in-law, Ralph Hall of Norris City, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jason Densel O'Neal; and a sister, Rita Knight.
Funeral services for Gary O'Neal will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at The Roads Church in Norris City, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. till service time at noon on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at The Roads Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gary's memory to The Roads Church - Missions Fund and will be accepted at the church. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
