Gary Lee Phillips, Sr. 86, beloved husband of the late Barbara Phillips, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Gary was the son of the late Leroy Phillips and Lila Bowen Phillips. He was a faithful member of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a hardworking man who loved his family, his country, and the Lord.

In his leisure time, Gary enjoyed bowling and golf, but his greatest passion was baseball. He even played in a textile baseball league, a source of many cherished memories.

Gary was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He is survived by sons, Lee Phillips and Barry Phillips (Sandi); daughters, Lori Winslow and Kathy Phillips; bonus daughter, Gayling Fox (Kenny); grandchildren, A.J. Mills, Casey Fox, Jarod Fox (April), Terah Sampler (Jason), Zack Mann, Matthew Turner, Jennifer Partain (Chris), Chelsea Green (Dalton), Robert "Van" Winslow; April Hartog (Tim), Jessica Dias (Louis), Jessica Potter (Jeremy), and Olivia Winslow; 22 great grandchildren; sister Elaine Wagner; brother, Skipper Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews..

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Lyndsey Phillips; brothers, Charles Phillips and Micky Phillips; bonus child, Brandi Wilson Hayes:, and his constant companion and best friend his French Bulldog, Bella-they were truly inseparable.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West .
