Gerald "Gary" Picklesimer, age 69, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 27, 1955, in Columbus, the son of the late Robert and Majoria (Owens) Picklesimer. He was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1973. After graduation, Gary enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he worked at and retired from the Main Post Office in Columbus. Gary loved to play poker. He enjoyed going to stock car races on dirt tracks, family vacations to Kentucky, and bowling. He loved teaching people how to play Chess while at their family reunions.
He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Cheryl (DeLong) Picklesimer; children, Samuel Picklesimer, Savannah (Jason) Binkley, Chase Picklesimer, and Capitola Picklesimer, all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Noah, Abby, Nikki, Anna, Jaxon, Lyric, Weston, and Lakelynn; great nephew, Ayden DeLong; siblings, Debbie (Mark) Peters, of Circleville, Cindy (Tom) Branscom, of Chillicothe, Barry Picklesimer, of Tarlton, Larry (Kyme) Picklesimer, of Ripley, Dennis (Anita) Picklesimer, of Stoutsville; sister in law, Luann Picklesimer, of Hamilton; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Rick Rush and Lugene Barker. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Picklesimer; in-laws, Lee and Wanda DeLong.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Amanda Township Cemetery with Matt Kilbarger officiating. Cremation has been arranged in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral & Cremation Service, Amanda.
Friends may make memorial contributions to any charity of the donor's choice.
