Please make sure to select the tab, MULTIMEDIA, top right to watch a beautiful video of Gary that was created, by Brett Schroeder. Gary Todd Pitt left this earth, Friday, July 29, 2016, in the arms of his beloved wife, Chera while surrounded by family and friends after battling glioblastoma brain cancer. He was a dearly loved husband to Chera, a doggy dad to Izzy, an ideal son to Sandra Kay and Raymond Pilcher, Gary and Sharyn Pitt, and mother in law, Rhonda Brown "Mama Brown". Gary was brother to Randy Pitt, Lynne Pilcher, Todd Pilcher, Charlotte and husband Carl Gustafson as well as a caring uncle to Tyler Pitt, Trey Gustafson, and Katy Gustafson. He is also survived by many cousins, extended family and a wonderful circle of friends. His best buds were all here by his bedside at passing: Brett Schroeder, Dewayne Grimes, and Larry Wachtel. Gary lived the majority of his life in Boca Raton, FL and Austin, TX where he built many lasting friendships. Gary was a devoted husband, friend, son, and brother who worked at building relationships and defended them strongly; you knew Gary cared for you. Gary attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelor of Finance degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992. He was a Longhorn through and through with Gator pride. Growing up, Gary participated in youth and high school football and high school wrestling. His summers were spent with his grandparents in North Carolina where he found his love of gardening, plants and flowers. He had a true green thumb. His other true passion was playing golf. He played golf as a youth but a summer working at Balcones Country Club changed him forever. Gary was a single digit golfer and it was a joy to watch him play. Gary was happiest in 2009 when he met, Chera, the love of his life, "his angel" he would say. They lived a life in Wimberley, Austin and settled in Leander; the place where untapped land and wildlife are in abundance; where Gary would sit on the porch and watch the birds, squirrels, wildlife and tend to his peppers, plants and flowers. He had many careers in his short life in a variety of industries including insurance, galvanizing, land development, telecommunication, real estate, and corporate retail sales. In each vocation, he approached the job with determination and high energy; he researched, learned from peers, took classes, whatever it took to assure he performed at a high level. That is the way Gary approached life. He did find his absolute true calling when he took a position at Office Depot Corporate Office in Austin, TX where he excelled rapidly to a management position as a campaign manager. Gary was a rock to us all; he was compassionate, kind and gentle and he never met a stranger. His family and friends will tell you that Gary was a pleasure to be with. He was engaging, a good listener, and knowledgeable in many topics. He could discuss politics, economy, history, weather, technology, marketing, football, and of course, golf with ease. Many will remember and miss their conversations with Gary. Gary and Chera were known as true soul mates that did everything together from cooking, to dances on the back porch, to wineries, watching football and traveling for Chera's recipe contests. If they weren't cooking or grilling they were on the golf course. Chera would like to end this tribute with, "Gary, baby, I love you so much and I ache that you are gone from my life, but one day my love, I will join you where we will take those dance lessons and look upon the Amalfi Coast and float over to Spain." Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Road, Leander, TX. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road in Austin. My sympathy goes out to Gary's family. I knew Gary back in Boca Raton High School, Class of 1983. He was always a nice person to me even though we didn't hang out in the same circles. I was in band and he was in football. R.I.P. my friend.

Sending prayers for comfort and strength to the Pitt Family and loved ones. Gary was such a kind person and we have fond memories of him growing up here in Boca. God must have needed another great gardener, or golfer or all around special person to help him in heaven. Gary's suffering is done and we pray your broken hearts will be mended with your memories of him when he was his happiest.

My sincerest sympathies to Chera and all of Gary's family. I was a neighbor, childhood friend and college roommate of Gary's. I have lots of great memories of Gary. I lost touch with Gary after college but I often thought of him and wondered what he was up to. It's a total shock to hear this kind of news about an old friend. I regret that we didn't keep in touch. RIP Gary. I look forward to the day we can reconnect.

Chera,
I don't even have the words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Gary's fight for survival is truly inspirational for all of us. He was indeed fortunate to have been loved by so many. My family and I will continue to fight for a cure for brain cancer. Please know that while I am at a loss for words that my thoughts and prayers are certainly with you at this difficult time.
