Gary James Pizza, 70 passed away on August 5th peacefully in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with cancer. He was a devoted father, cherished friend, and kind and fair soul. Gary's Presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born in Cheverly, Maryland on July 30th, he moved to the Eastern Shore in 1976. Gary lived by a mark of resilience, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or words of encouragement.

Gary was a man of character, known for his loyalty, generosity, and sense of humor. He was a devout Catholic who loved his church and church family. He also was an avid sportsman who found joy in watching, coaching, and playing all sports. He excelled in every sport he played. Gary was also a businessman, CEO and founder of Backyard Barns Inc. started in 1993. He ran this business successfully for 30 years.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Kathy of 47 years. Together they raised their son, Tanner (Esther), as well his daughter, Karly (Gregory). Gary's love extended to several brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jean Pizza, and his father-in-law, Dallas Gravenor.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis de sales Catholic Church in Salisbury on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 2:00pm with an hour prior visitation.

In lieu of flowers, please join us in making donations to Coastal Hospice who helped us through this difficult time.
