Patrick Donaway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Aug. 9, 2025.
Patrick left to be with the Lord on August 7, 2025, after a battle with Lewy body dementia. He was a proud individual and loved his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily A. Donaway, and father, Walter N. Donaway, as well as his grandmother, Vivian Allen, and aunt Jackie Allen, with whom he had a very special bond.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gladys Donaway; his daughter, Jackie Davis; his son, Patrick John Donaway; and three grandchildren, Ashley LeGates, John LeGates, and Caitlin Wright. He is also survived by several grand-dogs and his precious cat.

Pat worked as an Electronics Engineering Specialist from 1971 until 2023 at K & L Microwave, Lorch Inc., and API Tech. He began his career in 1971 when Richard Bernstein hired him as an assembler at K & L Microwave and ended his working career with Mr. Bernstein at LWRC in Cambridge, MD, in 2023. They formed a long-lasting bond, along with Mr. Bernstein's son, Kevin. Both were very special people in Pat's life. He also had two lifelong friends he loved dearly: Anna Davis and Jim Price.

Pat was an avid bowler for 60 years, traveling the country to bowl in national tournaments. He enjoyed NASCAR and attended races with his wife. Another favorite pastime was camping with friends and family. His love for music was undeniable-Jimmy Buffett being his favorite entertainer. He rocked many concerts at many venues.

Key West was always Pat's happy place. He and his wife vacationed there every year. This man enjoyed every day of his life with beach parties, cruises, cornhole, and his infamous Bloody Mary gatherings. Life was good to him.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, at 10am at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Springhill Memory Gardens, 27260 Ocean Gateway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's/Dementia foundations.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Road.
