Gary Roy Plumb

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Roy Plumb, who left us on September 23rd, 2025, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with heart disease.
Gary was born on January 25, 1949, in Puyallup, WA to Frank and Trudy Plumb and spent his childhood in Sumner, WA, graduating from Sumner High School in 1968. He played football in high school for the Spartans and played for a few years with the Tacoma Bengals.
His love for skiing led him to become a part-time ski instructor at Snoqualmie Ski resort where he taught his own young children the love of skiing. He skied over the years at all the Washington ski areas as well as some in other states. Gary was an avid bowler for most of his life and at one time bowled a perfect 300 for his league. Gary was in a jeep club with friends from Sumner and he raced sailboats with friends in the 90's. He enjoyed the outdoors, and camping was an important part of his life, with his last campout being with the Daffodil Roamers from the Eagles in June.
Gary worked for Puyallup Cold Storage for 30 years as a warehouseman and did some truck driving after retiring from the warehouse. His last ten years of work he was employed as a full-time employee at the Puyallup Fair.
When his working years were over, Gary became involved with the Eagles. Gary held many offices at the Puyallup Eagles including being the President twice. He was District Deputy as well as the Aerie Heart Chairman for both his local Aerie and at the State level. The charity work that he was involved with was important to him and in June 2025 at the state convention in Yakima, he was awarded a $10,000 grant to go to the Pulse Heart Institute, which was close to him because of his journey with the heart pump (LVAD) he had implanted in 2020. Gary was presented with the Washington State Aerie Hall of Fame award at the convention, which he felt so honored to receive.
Gary had great love for his family and enjoyed their times together on holidays, camping, watching sports together and hanging out around a fire. His family asked to be taught how to make his awesome spaghetti sauce and his famous hot dill pickles!
Gary is survived by his sons Chris (Laurie)Plumb, Curt (Jesi)Plumb, and his daughter Kimberly (Kyle)Benson, his grandchildren Bailey (Jack)Rose, Great-Grandson Preston Rose, Grandsons Wyatt (Shelby)Plumb, Gage Plumb and Lyric Plumb, his sister Janet Marsh, his niece Stephanee Marsh-Smith, her two sons Conner and Alec Smith, his niece Nicole (Jeff)MacGibbon and their two daughters Kylee and Sidney MacGibbon, as well as a few cousins in Washington and Germany. He also leaves his loving partner Carol Walther, her family and many, many dear friends who meant so much to him. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his twinkling eyes, his quick wit, and his big hugs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 10 from 11am to 4pm at the Buckley Eagles at 29021 WA-410, Buckley, WA 98321. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects. You are invited to wear your favorite team jersey to honor Gary's love for all sports.
