Gary Duane Pound, 88, died August 24, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born on April 14, 1937, in Fredonia, to Harry K. and Mary Belle (Cook) Pound.

Gary graduated from Fredonia High School in 1955 and then graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Pharmacy in 1960. He was a registered pharmacist for over 50 years. Gary worked for Dillon's for 25 years, and for the Medicine Shoppe following his retirement from Dillon's. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran, Hutchinson.

On May 1, 1960, Gary married Mary Elizabeth Crome, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hoxie.

He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Mary Pound of Hutchinson; sister, Karen Stine of Texas; and sister-in-law, Shirley Crome of Ellis.

Gary was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Donald Pound and Larry Pound.

Cremation has taken place; burial will be at a later in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hoxie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Gary was my oldest brother. We never lived close and we did not get the chance to spend a lot of time with Gary and Mary. But I loved him annd always felt that because of him I survived childhood. My 2 other brothers picked on me a lot and Gary always looked after me. He was my hero
