Kenneth James Thomas Pound was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 5th, 1941, to Bernadette Miller and Wayne Pound. He died at his home in West Bloomfield on June 30, 2025.
An incredible loss to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed especially by his wife of fifty-four years, Janet Torreano, and their three children, Molly (Dan Welcher) Pound, Jesse (Elizabeth) Pound, Patrick (Sue) Pound, and grandkids Liam, Declan, Bridget and Francesca, as well as three step grands; Jack, Gavin and Kaila. Ken was a loving brother to Jerry, a favored uncle to his nieces and nephews and a true friend to so many.
Ken graduated from Catholic Central in Grand Rapids in 1959. He went on to attend Eastern Michigan University and received his master's in English Literature and Physical Education. He taught for 54 years at Southfield - Lathrup High School and Oakland Community College. Ken also coached football, wrestling and girls basketball; impacting over 10,000 students lives.
He had been a member of The Delta Sigma Pi's and the Huntington Woods Men's Club.
He was kind and generous, funny and humble. He loved the world and the world loved him back.
Hamlet Act 5 Scene 2:
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince,/And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson, Thursday, July 10, from 3-8 pm. Funeral services will take place Friday, July 11, at 11:00 am. Ken's Service will be livestreamed and can be watched at this link here
