Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Dec. 13, 2025.
Gary A. Rosche, age 66, passed away peacefully Monday evening (December 8, 2025) at home after a brave fight with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his family and his girlfriend.
Gary was born on May 30, 1959, in
Plymouth, WI, the son of the late Jerome and Bonnie (Helmke) Rosche.
Gary attended
Plymouth, WI area schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1977. On July 28, 1990, he married Janice Matheson. They resided in Greenbush for many years before divorcing.
Gary will be remembered for knowing people wherever he went. If he did not know people where he was, he would be sure to introduce himself. He was an involved "people person".
Gary's involvement could also be seen throughout his years in school. In high school, he was a member of FFA (having grown up on a farm), was a wrestler, and lettered in band, playing saxophone.
Music was a passion that continued throughout his life. He sang in two different church choirs. He played saxophone in the Plymouth Municipal Band, having started when he was a teenager and continuing until August 2025. He had played with the Bob Kuether Polka Band from Manitowoc, and the Bill Thull Orchestra from Kewaskum. He organized an instrumental quartet to play at area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He made a trip to Austria with the Plymouth High School Jazz Band.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and trap shooting. In 1998, he won 1st place in the Class AA Ridgerunner's Trap League. His family enjoyed meals as a result of his wild game hunting and fishing expeditions. He loved to go fishing on Lake Winnebago. Many years, he and his brothers went fishing on Lake Erie. There was always a family gathering afterward to eat fish caught. He took yearly camping trips with close school friends. His outdoor activities also included making maple syrup from trees in his yard and gardening. His tomatoes ended up in juice, sauces, or integrated into meals.
Gary liked driving truck and saw much of the USA while driving. He drove truck for Ford Farms, Bob Witkowski, Johnsonville, and Drake Farms. In 2014, Gary received the LaVern "Jumbo" Raehl Award for his significant commitment to the Wisconsin Truck Driving championships from the Wisconsin Council of Safety Supervisors. He worked at Johnsonville for more than 30 years, starting as a truck driver, then doing truck safety and training, working on truck trailer maintenance, and fleet operations before retiring. After retirement from Johnsonville, he worked for Drake Farms until cancer sidelined him.
Family and friends were important to Gary. His hunting and fishing trips included family and extended family members or friends. These trips will be missed by all who enjoyed their time spent with Gary. A special friend of Gary's was Jim Holzhaeuser, with whom he spent many hours during their 20 year friendship.
Gary is survived by his siblings: Lawrence "Larry" (Martha) Rosche of Plymouth, Therese "Terri" Schwab (Alan Zimmer) of Cedar Grove, Daryl (Yvonne) Rosche of Hewitt, WI, and Gerald "Joe" (Tricia) Rosche of Kaukauna, WI. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Lyn Beyer, his mother's husband, David Hartmann and his father's wife, Nancy Rosche, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Rosche and Bonnie Hartmann.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service, with a meal to follow the service. Following Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place.
