BLISSFIELD: Gary E. Schmidt, age 77 of Blissfield, passed away on December 4, 2022, in Toledo, Ohio. Gary was born on October 29, 1945, to Edward and Margaret Schmidt in Toledo, Ohio. On January 14, 1967, in Toledo, Ohio he married Sandra Pool.
Gary graduated from Bowsher High School in 1963. He was employed by Daniels Brother Farms in Riga for many years and enjoyed working with the people there. In later years he worked for Wal-Mart in Adrian. Gary was a member of the Masonic-Sylvania Pyramid Lodge 0287 for forty-six years. But his favorite thing was spending time with his family. He was a proud and wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.
Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Schmidt of Blissfield; one son, Ronald (Barbara) Schmidt of Blissfield and one daughter, Lisa (Brian) Anderson of Manitou Beach; six grandchildren, Amy (Aaron) Wielfaert, Eric (Becky) Schmidt, Anna Schmidt, Justin (Colleen) Fischer, Jessica Fischer and Jacob Coleman; six great grandchildren, Ava, Jeremiah and Selah Wielfaert, Tilly, Bo, and Kirby Schmidt and Baby Boy Wielfaert due this month. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sue.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield with the Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield.
You may send condolences to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blissfield Township Fire Department or The Special Olympics, Area 29. Envelopes are available at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield.
