Judith Monterrubio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coyle Funeral and Cremation Services - Toledo on Jan. 29, 2026.
Judith "Judy" Ann Monterrubio, age 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2026. Born on February 1, 1949, in Toledo, Judy lived a life centered on family, creativity, and making memories. After bravely fighting through several strokes and dementia, she is finally at rest.

Judy was the heart and memory-keeper of her family. An avid scrapbooker, she was a wiz with her Cricut and a devoted photographer at every family event, always making sure no moment-or person

-was forgotten. Her albums told the story of a life full of love, laughter, and togetherness.

She shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Raul Monterrubio. Together they built a life rich in travel and adventure. Among their most cherished trips were family vacations to Walt Disney World, where Judy fully embraced the magic. Her favorite dwarf was Grumpy-a fitting favorite for someone with a playful sense of humor and a big heart beneath it all. They also treasured their many trips to Maui, Hawaii, staying in Napili Bay more than twenty times.

Judy loved camping with family and friends at state parks across the country, with special favorites including Higgins Lake, Pokagon State Park, Yellowstone, and many others. Summers often included attending Ohio State Spring Games with family and camping at Alum Creek State Park.

Family traditions were especially dear to Judy. Halloween was one of her favorite seasons-she lovingly handmade costumes for her granddaughters to wear while trick-or-treating at Maumee Bay State Park campground. She adored time spent with her grandchildren and was especially known as the beloved "g-ma Judy" at Perrysburg YMCA, where she proudly supported Isabel at gymnastics and famously fed the judges and coaches during meets.

A graduate of E.L. Bowsher High School, Judy worked for 25 years at Pepsi-Cola in Toledo. Outside of work, she embraced life's pleasures: enjoying margaritas at local Mexican restaurants, swimming in her pool, attending Broadway musicals at the Stranahan Theater, and keeping up with the newest Hallmark movies.

Judy was a terrific cook, known far and wide for her homemade tamales and her Christmas sweet

treats-fudge, peanut brittle, and candied nuts that familv and friends eagerlv awaited each year.

At home, she found joy feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard, always delighting in the simple beauty of everyday life.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Raul Monterrubio; her daughters, Shelley (Brett) Rogers and Amy (Mike) Debo; and her cherished grandchildren: Jackson Rogers (Bianca Reyes), Isabel Walker (Jake Beard), Joshua Rogers, Claire Debo, and Stella Debo.

Though she will be deeply missed, Judy's legacy lives on in the memories she so carefully preserved, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations can be made in Judy's name to Northwest Ohio Hospice.

We always enjoyed hanging out with Judy and Raul when we lived in Maumee. We were very shocked and saddened to hear about Judy´s passing. We are thinking of your family and pray you find peace in your memories of her. She was an awesome gal!
