Gary Richard Schoepf, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Gary was born in Newport, KY to the late Jean Carol (nee Meyer) and William Schoepf. Gary graduated from St. Stephen Elementary and Newport Catholic High School. Gary was a Newport Firefighter for 23 years until his retirement in 1988. Prior to retiring, he also worked for Snodgrass Distributing in Bellevue, KY. After retiring, Gary owned and operated Burkart's Carryout in Newport, KY.
Gary was an avid fisherman. He loved playing cards, gardening, tending to his yard, and relaxing on the front porch talking with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sandra Schoepf (nee Whitehouse).
Gary is survived by his loving children, Julie A. Pettit (Jon), Jeffrey A. Schoepf, Joseph S. Schoepf (Julie), Jacqueline S. Fleisner, his four grandchildren, William J. Atchley (Ashley), Samuel Fleissner (Ann Marie Mendiola), Ethan Schoepf and Jacqueline Schoepf, and his great grandchild, Leo Atchley. Gary is also survived by his brother, Barry Schoepf (Ruth Ann) and his sister, Bonnie Greis (Mike).
Visitation 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 South Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Monday, January 13, 2025, at St. Philip Church, Melbourne, Kentucky, with Rev. Bob Rottgers, officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Cemetery Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
Gary was a devout Catholic and a kind and generous man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 32110 Louisville, KY 40232-2110.
