Gary L. Searcy, 78, of Burlington passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at AuthoraCare Hospice in Burlington following several weeks of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the loving husband of 53 years to Patty Baulding Searcy, who survives, and the son of Vernon Paul Searcy and Velna Shoe Searcy, both deceased.

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Western Alamance High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church. He was the owner of Searcy Refrigeration Service for over 40 years and enjoyed working and serving in Alamance and surrounding counties. Gary believed in hard work and responsibility. He was proud to pass those traits on to his children and grandchildren. When he wasn't working, he could be found taking care of his yard, working on his truck, or watching Duke basketball. He also enjoyed sitting outside in his rocking chair while listening to beach music. Gary had a love of reading, especially about history. Gary also enjoyed coaching little league baseball and basketball.

In addition to his wife of their home, he is survived by two daughters, Angie Searcy Daniels and her husband Bill of Burlington and Carrie Lynn Searcy of Burlington; son, Michael Searcy and his wife Heather of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren, Elizabeth Daniels Enright and her husband Will of Dunn, Jackson Daniels of Burlington, Emerie Searcy of Pleasant Garden and baby boy Searcy due in May; three sisters, Sherrill Searcy Gerringer of Mebane, Barbara Searcy Reed of Lakeland, FL., Tammy Searcy Wall and her husband Ron of Mebane.

I remember Gary very well growing up !!!!. We used to go over to A O gym to play basketball all the time. I remember seeing him the last time , I had a fantastic basketball game against Western high school my Junior year at Eastern ! Gary walked up to me after the game and asked me where I learned to play basketball like that- I will never will forget it nothing like childhood friends and memories!
