Rev. James T. Moon, 89, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2025. James was born in Randolph County, NC on September 13, 1936 to Walter Lee Moon and Ethel Beck Moon.
Rev. Moon displayed God’s grace as a loving family member, devoted minister, and friend to the community. Having become a Christian at the age of 17, he was ordained into the ministry at 23 years of age. He graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible College and ministered a total of sixty years. He pastored Clearview Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and Dover Baptist Church, all in Randolph County, NC. The bulk of his ministry was served at Deep Creek Baptist Church in Burlington (Alamance County), NC, where he pastored for 50 years.
James is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Walker Moon, of the home; his children, Lisa Palmer (Jim) of Burlington, Kevin Moon (Angie) of Gibsonville, Paul Moon of Burlington, and Sarah Bowman of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Chris Palmer (Crystal), Daniel Palmer (Marion), Drew Palmer (Brandy), Joseph Palmer (Abby), Adam Moon (Tess), Justin Moon, Jessica Sykes, and Pierce Bowman; his great-grandchildren, Skylar Palmer, Braxton Palmer, Lilly Palmer, Halie Palmer, Bella Palmer, Seth Carter, Ben Carter, and Braylen Miller; as well as his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Moon, Janice Moon, and Rachel Cox.
Rev Moon was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Grady Moon (Cloyce), Ray Moon (Carolyn), Harold Moon (Janice), and Raeford Cox (Rachel).
Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Burlington, NC. The graveside committal will be at 2:00pm at Richland Baptist Church Cemetery at 2323 Old Humble Mill Rd in Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends immediately afterward in the Richland Baptist Church Fellowship Building.
