Gary Dale Sexton, 72, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2025. Gary was born on May 28, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Richard Sexton and Donna (Weaver) Sexton.
After graduating high school, Gary started working in the manufacturing industry and dedicated many years of his life to Elkhart Produces until his retirement. Outside of work, Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Gary and his friends would rent a beach house yearly in North Carolina and he enjoyed sharing stories of those adventures. Gary found immense joy in the companionship of his dog, Ebony and his cat, Buddy. He was especially known for his lifelong, unwavering passion for animals. The best welcome home involved a happy tail wag and a few licks. Gary found fulfillment in helping animals and donating to many charities. "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our life whole". Gary also had a passion for NASCAR and you knew where to find him on Sundays, right in front of the TV with the volume turned up high enough to hear every roar of the engines on the tracks. He also enjoyed cheering on the Raiders and White Sox. His family knew better than to call during a game, as he would be glued to the TV.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Teresa Willis and Debra Hiles, both of South Bend, Indiana; and his brother, Rodney (Penny) Sexton of Battle Creek, Michigan. He will be greatly missed by all.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club on November 9th at 1:00 PM EST. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to South Bend Lost and Found Pets.
