Gary Simmons

Age 67, of Frankfort, IL formerly of New Lenox, IL, and Blue Island, IL, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 at his home. Gary was born in Blue Island, IL to the late Donald and Blivian (nee Partin) Simmons.

Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Brach) Simmons; lovingfather of Stephanie (Johnathon) Keith, Ashley (Alan) Baldwin, and Ethan (Haley) Simmons; cherished Papa of Hannah, Emily, and Madeline Keith, Grace, Charlie, and Ellie Baldwin, and Luke and Conor Simmons; dear brother of JoAnn Simmons Lazzarotto; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Gary was an Electric Bulk Power Generation Manager for 45 years, working for ComEd, Exelon, and several other power generation providers. He received his undergraduate from Lewis University and his MBA from University of St. Francis. Gary coached youth basketball and youth baseball in New Lenox for many years. Along with being a friend to everyone, Gary was at the foremost a devoted husband, father, and papa. He made it a priority to take family vacations and make them memorable. Gary was an avid fisherman and just loved the outdoors. Whether he was planting trees, cultivating his garden, or mowing the lawn, he took pride in the finished product. After retirement, Gary developed an interest in refurbishing vintage Schwinn bikes. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.

The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 3:00 pm until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be private.
