Gary Skinner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 31, 2022 to Jan. 9, 2023.
Gary Hamilton Skinner of Port Angeles, Washington passed away on December 1, 2022, at his home from complications with Pneumonia. He joins his wife of 41 years, Karen, who passed away earlier this year, in a much better place.

Gary was born in Seattle, WA to his parents Florence and Loren (Gifford) Skinner. When Gary was a young child, they moved to a farm in Issaquah where he and his sister and two brothers grew up. Along with his duties on the farm, he spent his extra time playing sports and participating in his school's 4H program. He later joined the Air Force Reserves and completed the program in good standing.

He spent most of his adult life working for 3M which took him and his family across the country to St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and finally back home to Issaquah, Washington, where he bought the family farm from his parents. He developed and used his communication skills to both sell and support the end users of their adhesive products. One of his favorite accomplishments was being chosen to travel to China to support their International Division in growing sales in Asia.

Gary thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, he especially loved fishing, golf and playing tennis. Gary also enjoyed traveling across the country with Karen in their RV. They would always come back from their trips with photos and details of the places visited but their true pride and joy was meeting new folks and sharing stories, wine, and adventures. Most recently, he rediscovered his passion for the accordion and resumed taking lessons. He had played the instrument as a child and would oftentimes be asked to play by his father to entertain family and friends.

Gary was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and most recently great-grandfather. Gary is survived by his brothers Ron and Mike, son Brett, two daughters Sheri and Elise, two stepdaughters Lisa and Dawn, stepson Jeff, seven grandchildren Lacy, Shawn, Tyler, Luke, Jake, Lauren, Brooke and two great-grandchildren Jaden and Gwendolyn.

As per his wishes, Gary's ashes will be spread in the Ocean at the same spot Karen's were, date and time to be determined.
