Gary Bernard Sobel
Bayside - passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on March 26, 2024, a fighter til the end. Born August 12, 1940, he spent a lifetime dedicated to service to others in social work for Milwaukee County and his community. Proceeded in death by his parents, Daniel and Jeanette (nee Gecht) Sobel, and beloved son, Adam Jon "A.J.". Survived by his loving wife, Diane (nee Rafalow), daughter, Lexy (Michael) Gore, sister, Sandra Reddemann, and many close and dear friends and relatives.
Gary earned a B.S. and M.S.W from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a lifelong Badger. A fan of all things Wisconsin, especially his Packers, he had a remarkable and honest soul, who overcame tremendous obstacles to live a full life.
Funeral services 11 AM Friday, March 29, 2024 at Congregation Sinai, 8223 N. Port Washington Rd., Fox Point, WI 53217. Interment at Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Contributions to the Jewish Community Center Adam (A.J.) Sobel Camp Interlaken Scholarship fund appreciated.
Shiva to be announced at the service.
