Mr. Gary W. Strickland, age 62, husband of Mallissia A. Strickland, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2025 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle of leukemia since his recent diagnosis in January.
Born October 3, 1962 in Newport News, Va, Gary was the son of the late Robert Lee Strickland and the late Alva Jean Johnson Strickland. He was the owner and operator of a very successful landscaping business and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Mallissia A. Strickland; his beloved German Shepherds, Hank and Sadie; his son, Kenny Strickland; his step-children, Stacy Wilson and husband Chris, Samantha Mayor and husband Chris, Norman White, III and wife Tori, Michael Tippett and wife Katie, and Matthew Tippett; sixteen grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived and for his contagious smile.
A Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. John Holmes, will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with inurnment immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
