Gary P. "Big Gary" Stroupe I, 70 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023 at his daughters residence. He was born on February 9, 1953 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Gary was an Army Veteran (serving in Nurburg, Germany), a master carpenter and after retiring from construction he drove a J.C.P.S. bus for Burks Bus Compound.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Elliott Stroupe; parents, Charles Franklin and Francis Stroupe; and his brothers and sisters, Frances Means, Charles Stroupe, Alice Miller and Mike Stroupe.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Stroupe; two children, Gary Stroupe II (Xiaoying) and Tessa Peters (Chipper); seven grandchildren, Hayle Stroupe, Kayle Stroupe, Savanna Stroupe, Seth Peters, Ryan Peters, Lynnlee Peters and a grandchild on the way; two great-grandchildren, Keaton Warford and Raelynn Childers; seven brothers and sisters, Betty Heiby, William Stroupe, Anna Seelinger, Margaret Wagoner, Mary Lou White, Rhoanda Wilson and Butch Moore; numerous bonus grandkids; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Pastor W.D. Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. till 2 P.M. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Barlow Funeral Home. Military services will be provided at Bardstown Cemetery by the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may go to the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard.
