Gary Stubbs, 71, of Lawson, Missouri passed away on August 1, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Stubbs was born October 5, 1949 in West Plains, Missouri.

Gary was a switchman for 42 years at Santa Fe Railway until his retirement in 2009. He started woodworking out of his shop after his retirement. He loved carpentry and could fix or build anything, his woodworking was one of a kind. Cyndi and Gary enjoyed visiting auctions in search of the next best item to refurbish which they would do together, enjoying each other's company. The couple who was married for 29 years loved spending their time together and vacationing frequently to their favorite spots. He was a self proclaimed weatherman and could always tell you the forecast or show you the radar. Gary loved to sit on his front porch and look out into his fields as the sun came up with a good cup of coffee. Gary loved taking his whole family to his hometown, West Plains, and showing them around. He was a food connoisseur, caring father, loving husband, family man, and dedicated and loyal friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his sons Steven and Jeremy Stubbs, his father Bill and mother Ola Stubbs, and three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Cyndi, daughters Amy Moote and Layci Mahler, son Kevin (Jenny) Stubbs, sister Peg (Frank) Taylor, grandchildren; Nicole (Russel), Skyler, Cole, and Brody, as well as four great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 11-12:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney on Thursday, August 5, 2021. The funeral service will begin at 12:30pm also at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney with a burial to follow at Lawson Cemetery.

May I offer my condolences for your loss. I worked with Gary off and on for the 42 years he served for the Santa Fe Railroad, and always considered him one of my favorites to work with. I know he will sorely be missed by all of his loved ones and may he rest in peace.
