Gary H. Thompson

Gary H. Thompson, age 68, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 10, 2022. He was born on July 12,1953 in Beech Grove to Harlan and Eleanor Thompson, both of whom precede him in death. Gary loved to garden, and had the talent to grow both flowers and vegetables. At a young age he found a love of singing, and carried that with him throughout his life singing in all kinds of different places with different bands, even during his service in the United States Navy. He also played the drums in his high school marching band. His talents didn't end there- he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing euchre. His family, however, was his true passion. Gary made a tradition of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for his family, and turned that into taking time to cook breakfast for his kids every morning. He could also be found playing basketball and football with his grandchildren, who he loved to spend time with, although they may remember him most for beating them at Mario Kart, a favorite pastime. Gary was a former member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion Post 276 in Beech Grove.

He is survived by his wife: Tina Thompson; sons: Jason (Janet) Thompson, and Shane Thompson; as well as his grandchildren: Luke Thompson, and Olivia Thompson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 110 N. White River Parkway W Dr., Indianapolis, IN. 46222
