Gary went to heaven on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Born November 21, 1948, to John and Cecilia VanLoo. After high school, he attended college in Seattle to be a sheet metal worker. He worked at an egg farm in the evenings and went to school during the day.
In 1970 he married Kathy Bajema and they lived in Seattle for 2 years before moving back to Lynden. While back in Lynden, Gary started working with Van's Sheet Metal (later known as Andgar Corporation) with his very good friend and long-time business partner Andy Mellema.
After "retirement" Gary thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at the Lynden Christian School shop helping and encouraging kids with various projects and life lessons.
Gary loved Jesus Christ and strongly believed God's door is always open for all to walk through. Romans 14:8 If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord.
Gary was preceded in death by parents John and Cecilia VanLoo, father in-law Dewey Bajema, and grandson Ben Vander Haak.
Gary is survived by his immediate family, wife Kathy, Bryan & Tressa, (Sam, Braxton & Tess) VanLoo, Steve & Jewel, (Eli, Ruby & Joe) VanderHaak, Rob & Kari, (Sara, Brooke & Riley) VanLoo. Along with many sisters, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and very many friends.
With no obligation, memorials can be made to a local high school vocational ag program.
A service in honor of Gary will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, beginning at 4 p.m. at North County Christ the King, Lynden.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Sending my deepest condolences to the VanLoo family. Gary was such a good man and was very much a father figure to me. He will always have a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the service, but want you all to know that I am thinking of you.
