Gary Douglas Vollertsen, age 81, of Villa Grove, passed away on March 2, 2025, at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, CO. Gary was born March 22, 1943, in Rochester, New York, to Earl and Catherine (Shepard) Vollertsen.
Gary and his family moved to Villa Grove in 1984 from Florida. Gary enjoyed music, riding four-wheelers, riding motorcycles, camping, and classic cars. He also enjoyed playing games with his family and family gatherings. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Villa Grove Fire Department for 18 years and was a longtime member of Gideons International. Gary loved Jesus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Ann Vollertsen, and sister Nancy Krafchik. He is survived by his sons Douglas (Kristin) Vollertsen and Shawn (Ericka) Vollertsen, both of Villa Grove, CO. Grandchildren Ava Rose Vollertsen, Norah Grace Vollertsen, Alexis Vollertsen and Ethan Vollertsen. And by his sister Sandra Sanders of Largo, FL, and his nephew Casey Krafchik.
Funeral Services are set for 10:00 AM at the Villa Grove Fellowship on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Interment will follow at the Villa Grove Cemetery. Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to Gideons International through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
