Gary Edward Yawn, Sr., age 74, of Baxley, passed on Wednesday, December 10 2025 at Community Hospice in Vidalia. 

Mr. Yawn was born on September 8, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Otis Edward Yawn and the late Mildred Peacock Yawn. He was a member of Asbury Church and was an electrician with CSX Railroad. Beyond his professional life, he was known for his adventurous spirit as an avid motorcyclist. He found joy in simple pleasures—playing pool, cornhole, and horseshoes—and cherished the peace of spending his days fishing. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Yawn, and brother-in-law, Zachery Lee.

Survivors include his wife, Cathrin B. Yawn of Baxley; daughter, Carrie Lee Yawn (Joe Toler) of Baxley; son, Gary E. (Charity) Yawn, Jr. of Baxley; brother, Greg (Gail) Yawn of Hazlehurst. Grandchildren, Matthew (Rosie) Hutcheson, Dylan Yawn, Chayle (Austin) Hayes, Stormi Yawn, Merek Davis, Gabe Hunt, and Zada Hunt and a great grandchild, Ava Hutcheson also survive.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Pastor Darron Jackson and Rev. Michael Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Church Cemetery, 

Active Pallbearers will be Matthew Hutcheson, Dylan Yawn, Merek Davis, Buddy Smith, Cohen Griffin and Dale Austin.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
