Gary Young Obituary

In June of 1991 he welcomed his first born child, a daughter Melissa into the world. By February of 1994 he welcomed a son, Mark into the world. Gary was a truck driver by profession and enjoyed all the travel that it involved. He was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. You could always find Gary pulling for his favorite sports teams the Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and the Carolina Tarheels. Gary loved spending time with his family, specifically his grandchildren. To his grandchildren he was their #1 papaw. Gary will be remembered as a loving father, generous brother and a caring friend to many.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Jack Young and Mary Sue Young Left to cherish his memories are his children Melissa Young Woody (Dailen), Mark Young (Lena), Laura Pittman (Jeff). Grandchildren Caden, Sophia, Addie, Maddox, Parker and Amelia. One Sister Deborah Young Tolley (Keith) and several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with the Dr. Rocky Branch. Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
