Gavin Daren Writer, born on March 28th, 1965, in California, passed away on July 28th, 2023, at the age of 58 in Denver, leaving behind his devoted wife of 27 years, Rose Writer, and their twin sons, Trent and Daren. He was the eldest son of Diane Davies Writer and the late Norman Daren Writer, and a beloved elder brother to Adam and the late Jason Writer.
Educated at Eugene Field Elementary School, Kent Denver Country Day School, Southern Methodist University, and nally at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Gavin earned a BA in Political Science. He was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Although a licensed real estate agent, Gavin's passions were diversi ed. He was an avid adventurer, a licensed pilot, and a zealous sports enthusiast, with interests spanning from tennis, skiing, and swimming, to theater.
After overcoming physical obstacles in skiing due to knee problems, Gavin found a new arena in poker. From friendly games to the 2005 World Series of Poker, his fascination for the game was inexhaustible. He relished his victories and treasured detailing his strategies to his family. His strategic mind was evident not only in his poker skills but also in his triumphs in his Fantasy Football Leagues.
Despite his diagnosis of oliguric metastatic colorectal cancer, his resilience was inspiring. After enduring 43 rounds of infusions and two weeks of pill-form chemo, he prioritized creating memorable moments with his family, journeying to exquisite destinations such as French Polynesia, Paris, the Bahamas, the Mexican Riviera, and Hawaii.
Beyond being a true gentleman and an honorable soul, Gavin was a devoted family man. Married to Rose Writer since August 8th, 1998, Gavin was an adored husband, father, son, and sibling. Gavin's noble character and undying spirit will be celebrated at the Cherry Hills Country Club on September 1st, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. His remarkable life, intelligence, and mischievous nature will continue to inspire and will be sorely missed.
