Gayle Ann Pharis, 75, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.
Gayle was born July 2, 1947 in North Carolina to the late Marvin and Letha Efird Byrd.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Jerry Pharis and son, Joe Talbert.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Saint Martin's Lutheran Church in Albemarle, officiated by Pastor Phil Thorsen. Burial will follow at the St. Martin's Lutheran Church Cemetery at 16592 St. Martin Rd, Albemarle.
Gayle was a wonderful wife, mother and Nana. She was a graduate of Albemarle High School and then went on to graduate from King's College having studied banking and finance. Upon finishing at King's, she spent 40 plus years in the banking industry from which she retired as Vice President of Bank of Uwharrie. Gayle was a life long member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church of Albemarle. She loved singing in the church choir and served as treasurer on the church council for numerous years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going to the beach. Gayle loved the Lord with all her heart, and lived a life full of faith. She now rests in the arms of her Lord and savior and is now reunited with her husband and son.
Survivors include son, Doug (Beth) Talbert of Albemarle, NC; granddaughters, Morgan and Josie Talbert, grandsons, Will and Drew Talbert; sisters, Lana (Fred) Misenheimer and Sue (Don) Grubb; and many beloved extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 16592 St Martin Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the family.
