Gedeon B. Langlinais

Col. Gedeon B. Langlinais (G.B.) went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2024, peacefully at his home in Denham Springs. He was born on March 10, 1936, in Cow Island, LA, raised in the country, training race horses and working the rice fields. He graduated from Ernest Broussard High School in 1954 as Valedictorian. He first learned to fly small planes at the Lafayette Airport in his senior year and in 1955 entered Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now UL) and their ROTC program. In 1958 he graduated with majors in math and science teacher accreditation. Upon graduation he was commissioned by President Eisenhower as a USAF 2nd Lt. He then went to Flight Training in Bainbridge, GA finishing at the top of his class. He completed Computer Systems for officers at Witchita Falls, TX AFB. He graduated the Air University Squadron Officer's School, Professorship School, and Command and Staff College. He was the Computer Systems Officer at England AFB Alexandria, LA and then sent to Anchorage, AK to coordinate 9 different computer systems. From 1967 - 1970 he was Professor of Aerospace Studies at LSU, Baton Rouge. His last assignment was from 1970 - 1979 at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., where he served 6 years on the Air Staff and 3 years as Chief of Plans for the Air Force computer service center. He retired in 1979 with 21 1/2 years of service to his country. After retirement he pursued real estate investments for 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Aline Langlinais, his sister Cora Langlinais Thomas, and son James Roth Langlinais.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marilyn Pray Langlinais, his sister Maxie Langlinais Trahan (R.C.), his 6 children, Brian Langlinais, Kalamazoo, MI, Lori Langlinais, Denham Springs, Sondra Egan (Chris), Mandeville, Monica McGrath (Frank), Clarksville, MD, Cindy Hartis (Ken), Douglasville, GA, Chris Langlinais (Trisha) Pearland, TX, daughter in law Lynn Stallings Langlinais (James) Nottingham, MD., 10 grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln. Denham Springs, LA 70726, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Louisiana National Veterans Cemetery in Zachary, LA.
