Gemma Niewoit Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Utica on Sep. 2, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gemma Niewoit, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gemma was born in Malta to Joseph and Carmen Camilleri on April 21, 1941, and she departed this world on September 1, 2023. She was 82 years old. Gemma's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound commitment to her family. She was the loving and cherished wife of Daniel Niewoit for an incredible 62 years, a testament to the enduring bond they shared. Gemma was a loving mother to her children Kathleen Niewoit, Joseph (the late Vicki) Niewoit, Kenneth (Heather) Niewoit, Christopher (Geri) Niewoit, and Mary Ellen (Kevin) Miller. Her maternal love extended beyond her own children to embrace her grandchildren: Phillip, Danielle (Brandon), Taylor, Drew, Christina, and Caitlin. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Ariya, Camron, and Aiden. Gemma is survived by her dear siblings Jane (Vincent) Gatt, Phillis (David) Huskin, and John Camilleri. She was predeceased by her grandson, Ryan, whose memory she held close to her heart. Gemma had a passion for life that was reflected in her hobbies. She found joy in tending to her garden, creating culinary delights in her kitchen, and spending countless hours enjoying her favorite Western movies. However, her greatest joy came from the moments she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love for them was immeasurable, and her presence in their lives was a source of boundless happiness. As we remember Gemma Niewoit, we celebrate a life rich in love and devotion. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Gemma Niewoit's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation will take place at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd (3Blks E. of Van Dyke), Utica, on Tuesday (September 5th) from 4pm - 8pm. A funeral service to honor Gemma's life will be held on Wednesday (September 6th) at 10am at the funeral home.
