Gene Bohn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne on Dec. 23, 2025.
Gene (Genie) Satterfield Bohn, affectionately known as, Honey, died peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 79. Growing up in a military family in Takoma Park, Maryland, Gene was creative, curious, and fiercely independent. She grew to love structure, adventure and discovery.

As a young adult, she learned shortwave radio and had a wall map with flag pins designating her national and international contacts.

While living in NJ, Gene and her parents opened and managed an antique store called Cassidy's Corner. She and her mother bought and sold at antique auctions where she taught her kids the art of practical Tetris how to 'load :50 ft of crap into a 10 ft van'.

Gene was ahead of her time using computers to host dial-up bulletin boards, design and support websites, and create and edit videos--years before the internet was a thing. She was especially proud of her own website: PeriodDrama.com. A fan of British art and culture, she memorized British films -- and forced her children to watch them… -- while she slept in a nearby recliner.

She was notorious for her lifelong crush on British actor, Richard Armitage. This inspired her to write numerous self-published, smutty romantic novels which are sold on Amazon under the pseudonym Loyal Wynyard. She maintained her fascination with the British Monarchy right up until the week that she died.

In Florida, Genie met Sam Walton while working as a District Manager at Walmart, until she retired in 2005.

It was in her DNA to baffle her friends with useless trivia which they seemed to enjoy. She loved to annoy her children by showing off her trivia knowledge by endlessly quizzing them.

She learned the Dark Web and became the queen of pirating movies before tracking stole her joy, but not before she amassed an impressive library of British shows that she demanded her kids watch…. while she napped. Her humor, wit, intellect, and mischievous smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Genie was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Major Ronald Brumlow, USAF (and maintained a friendship with Frank F., father of her children, until she died), and sister Shirley. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Marie), son, Frank A. (Brenda), grandchildren: Nadina (Leo), Frank W. (Brianna), great-grandchildren: Caden, Marley, Isabella and brother-in-law Les.
