Gene Bornt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury on Feb. 13, 2024.
Gene Arthur Bornt, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born on March 26, 1943, in New York to the late Marshall and Eunice Bornt.
Gene was married to his wife Joyce, for almost 50 years. He is survived by his two sisters, Marsha (John) Bornt and Debbie Willing; two brothers, John Bornt and Roger (Susan) Bornt; two step-sisters, Pam Parsons and Jan (JC) Sapp; seven nephews, including Jeffrey Bornt, Jeff (Donna) Cathell, John (Hilda) Cathell, Jimmy Cathell, Jared Bornt, Joel Bornt; 8 nieces, including Jennifer (Dave) Peele, Joanna (Mike) Fink, Cara Bornt-Davis, Lisa (Trent) Bornt-Davis, Lisa Bornt and Laurie (Dylan) Bornt-Hodges; four great-nephews, Brandon Bornt, Zachary Fink, Benjamin (Madi) Fink, Connor Kline; two great-nieces, Kali Bornt, and Brooklyn Kline; and great-great-neice Jaecyn Williams.
Gene never had children of his own, but took a real interest in his nieces and nephews. He would regularly take them on motorcycle rides, boating, fishing, out to dinner, or just for a car ride to talk and listen to music.
His professional life over the years was varied, including carpentry, masonry, pest control, and professional window cleaning. He worked hard at whatever trade he was in.
Gene loved a good joke, and you could be sure to get a good laugh each time you saw him. He loved spending time outdoors hiking and fishing, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the wonders of creation. Most precious to him was his faith in God. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and he loved studying the Bible and sharing with others his bible based hope. He treasured the promise at Revelation 21:4, which says that death, mourning and pain will be no more.
A memorial service will be held Sunday February 25 at 4:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Stanton Avenue in Salisbury, MD. Michael Fink will officiate. The program will also be streamed via Zoom, meeting ID 842-078-012 Password 119105
