Gene Roark, age 74, of Harrogate, TN, went to his Heavenly home on Monday, November 4, 2024. He was born on October 17, 1950, in Bimble, KY, to the late Harold and Etta Martin Roark.
Gene was a retired coal miner having worked for Sandy Fork Coal Mines and Bell County Coal during his career. He was the owner of Lakeview Boat Dock in Sharp’s Chapel, TN. Gene was an active member and supporter of the American Legion Dewey Guy Post No. 14 in Middlesboro, KY and the Middlesboro Elks Lodge No. 119. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Roark; son, Walt Hopper; and stepson, Robbie Alexander.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jeff (Nikki) Roark of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Kristin “Kris” (Freddie) Ellis of Harrogate, TN; step-children, Jamie Alexander-Dillion and Jodie Alexander; grandchildren, Taylar Parks, Bryson Parks, Tucker Parks, Adaline Parks, Tiffany Estes, Tanner Brim, Colton Ellis, and Tucker Hill; great-grandson, Andrew Estes; siblings, Arthur Roark, Glenda Davenport, Angela (Eddie) Jordan, Connie (Don) Downey, Mike (Debbie) Roark, and Scott Roark; many nieces and nephews that he lived, including a special nephew, Michael Harold Roark, as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of Gene Roark will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. David Rice presiding.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Davis, Odell Parker, Ron Capps, Freddie Ellis, Jr., Garland Ellis, Alex Burkhart, Tuble Loveday, Cleve Messer, Buck Scalf, and Bill Kleusman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Elks National Foundation, The American Legion, Middlesboro, KY in care of Jim Davis, or by planting a memorial tree in honor of Gene’s granddaughter, Taylar Parks.
