Gene Wayne Ruckman, age 63, passed away at the Life Care Center in Kansas City, Kansas, on October 26, 2024.
Gene was born on January 13, 1961 in Iola, Kansas to Earl George and Margaret Ann (Nichols) Ruckman. Gene attended school in Iola until 1978, when his family moved to Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from Topeka High School with the class of 1979. In 1992, Gene married Margaret Jane "Jamie" Parks. They made their home in Topeka. Jamie passed away in 2009, after a battle with cancer.
Gene worked in construction in the Topeka area. Once he moved back to Iola in 2015, he attended the Fellowship Regional Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie; parents, Earl and Margaret; brother, Dean Ruckman; step-grandson, Levi Cott; and other close family members.
He is survived by siblings, Deb Scheibmeir of Iola, Bernard (Sandy) Ruckman of Jacksonville, Florida, Bob (Cyndi) Ruckman of Le Roy, Kansas; step-daughters, Kelly Irwin and Deborah Irwin of Topeka, Kansas, and Angel Day of Rossville, Kansas; 12 step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Gene will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends in The Venue at the funeral home immediately following the service until 4:00 PM. Inurnment in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas, will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) and may be left with the funeral home.
