Gene Scearce, age 80, of Patrick Springs, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born in Danville, VA on July 17, 1945, to the late Emory C. Scearce and Pauline Williams Scearce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Johnny Scearce.

He loved God and loved his church, Middle Cross Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar with his church friends and would go anywhere and everywhere to spread the word through music. His favorite bible verse is “God loves you and so do we” 1St John 4:19.

Mr. Scearce is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Weaver (Dan) and Ginger Scearce; three grandchildren, Mandi Hall, Taylor Hodges, and Cole Weaver; four great-grandchildren, T.J. Saunders, Allana Jackson, Roxie Hodges, and Nora Hodges; one sister, Peggy Thompson; and fiancé, Debbie Boyd.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Morrison officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservice.com.
