It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geneva Sherrill Chaney, who left this world peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 7, 1938, in the quaint town of Fruithurst, Alabama, Geneva lived a life filled with cherished memories.

Geneva devoted many years of her life to her work as a cashier in the retail industry, most notably at Walmart. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she made lasting connections.

Geneva will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, Joyce Hart, Wendy Baskin, and Julie Phillips, who hold dear the countless moments they shared with her.

Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Chaney; her parents, Sam Sherrill and Wedell Johnson Sherrill; and her sister, Syble Bennefield.

Cremation has taken place, and Geneva's cremated remains will be laid to rest beside her beloved family at the Bowdon City Cemetery. In honor of her remarkable life, a memorial service will be held in the coming weeks, providing family and friends with an opportunity to celebrate her memory and share stories of the impact she had on their lives.

Messages of love and condolences may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to care for the Chaney family during this time.
