Geneva Ellen Keogh, 84, of Leasburg, MO, passed away on Saturday July 12, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on July 13, 1940, in the serene rural landscapes of Washington County, Missouri, to Sam and Cora (Nash) Holley, Geneva's life was one of dedication, love, and simple joys.
Geneva's early years were spent in the heart of Missouri, where she attended local schools in Herculaneum and then Sullivan. It was here that she laid down the roots of her education and developed the strong work ethic that would define her professional and personal life. On her birthday in 1957, Geneva married the love of her life, Ronald Keogh, marking the beginning of a partnership that would last a lifetime. Together, they welcomed two wonderful children into the world, Angela and Ronald, both of whom brought immense joy and purpose to Geneva's life.
A dedicated worker, Geneva joined the workforce at the International Shoe Company before moving on to Mid-West Shoe in Sullivan. Her diligence and commitment were well-regarded by all who worked alongside her. But it was her role as a devoted wife and mother that Geneva cherished most. In 1983, Geneva and Ronald made the decision to move to Leasburg, where they would make their final home.
Her interests were a reflection of her love for life and family. Geneva had an unwavering affection for children, particularly her grandkids and great-grandkids, whose lives she enriched with her care and attention. An avid gardener, she found peace and contentment in tending to her plants and feeding the birds and squirrels that visited her yard. The simple pleasure of a good find at yard sales and flea markets was something Geneva always looked forward to, as it was an activity that combined her love for the community with her keen eye for treasures.
Together with Ronald, Geneva enjoyed exploring the beauty of Missouri through day trips and leisurely drives. These excursions allowed them to appreciate the splendor of their surroundings and the companionship they shared.
Geneva is survived by her children, Angie Skaggs and her husband, Joe, of Leasburg, MO, and Pastor Ron Keogh and his wife, Priscilla of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren: Kimberly Alvey and husband, Andrew of Leasburg, Jeremy Skaggs and significant other, Jackie of Union, MO, Joshua Skaggs and significant other, Christina Lewis, and Melissa Weir and husband, James, all of Leasburg, Holly Hodges and husband Phillip of Blue Springs, MO, Anna Needles and husband, Scott and Emily Keogh all of Independence, MO; 14 great-grandchildren: Joseph, Nicholas, Fin, Taya, Tanner, Faith, McKenna, Calista, Julianna, Gabbriella, Leah, Ben, Freddy, & Arthur; 3 great great-grandchildren: Samaria, Kuiper, & Ashton; a brother, Leroy Holley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Keogh; her parents, Sam and Cora Holley; two sisters, Juanita Cain and Rose Stewart; and infant twin brothers.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan with Pastor Ron Keogh officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, MO.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Funeral Home prior to the service.
