Geneva Shults Obituary

She was a lifelong resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and a proud tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She started her nursing career in 1963 when she earned her LPN and then her RN in 1971. She dedicated her life to serving and caring for others as a nurse. She later graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. She was an avid reader and loved to travel with her husband Joe; having visited all 50 states and numerous countries and islands!
She was preceded in death by her parents Edd and Juanita White; husband Joe Shults; brother Don White; and granddaughter Melanie Stanley Henry.
Survivors include her children Diane Perrin and husband Dale of Durant, Oklahoma, Kathy Chambers and husband Randy of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren Blake Large and wife Ivy of Denison, Texas; Josh Perrin and Missy of Durant, Oklahoma; Ashley McLarry and husband Quentin of Durant, Oklahoma; and April Chambers of Durant, Oklahoma; Great grandchildren Kenton Stanley and wife Padyn, Kenslie Flores and husband Bryant, Bailey Large, Jacob McLarry and wife Amber, Randi Conner and husband Peyton, and Taylor and Brady Richardson; great-great grandchildren Dally Kae Stanley, Sutton Stanley, Sterling Flores, Kimber and Braylee Richardson; and her bonus children who she helped raise as her own Arvel Shults, Lisa Claar, Donna Roman, Bobby Shults, and Billy Shults along with many beloved family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Gethsemane Cemetery Pavilion in Caddo, Oklahoma with Brother Jeff Self, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. 3rd, Durant, 580-916-9090

Geneva was my cousin. Her father and my father were brothers. I lost touch with Geneva over many years but recently she contacted me again. She sent me pictures that I never would´ve had otherwise and she checked in on me from time to time. It meant a lot to me. I am sorry to see that she has passed, but her worries and her earthly challenges are over.
